Located just south of Monongalia County, Marion county offers a slightly slower pace of life, though not without amenities. The county seat, Fairmont, is home to a local delicacy known as the Pepperoni Roll. Created by Italian immigrant, Giuseppe “Joseph” Argiro, in the 1920s as a means to easily transport lunch into the coal mines; the pepperoni roll has gained culinary notariety the world-over.
Fairmont is also home to Fairmont State University and the I-79 Technology Park which is home to over 30 businesses and federal agencies like NASA and NOAA. Fairmont also boasts an array of small, local businesses and a fantastic park system.
